Making a Will

Making a Will is the only certain way to look after and provide for your loved ones as you intend.

You can:

  • Decide who benefits from your estate
  • Appoint Guardians to look after any children that may be under 18 when you die
  • Appoint Executors & Trustees to carry out your wishes
  • Stipulate funeral wishes

Without a Will the State directs who inherits, and those you wish to provide for may not benefit from your estate.

Even if you already have a Will, you should review it at least every 5 years and especially after any major life change such as moving house, having a child or getting married, divorced or separated.

We can also advise on measures to save Inheritance Tax both in your will and through lifetime planning.

How to make your Will

  • Before your appointment think about who you wish to carry out your wishes your Executor. Executors can be beneficiaries under the Will and often people appoint their spouse, civil partner or children as Executors
  • List the names and addresses of the people you wish to benefit in your Will
  • Provide details of your family and marital status
